About Us

Susan G. Komen Central and Northern Arizona® (Komen CAN AZ) is one of more than 120 Affiliates around the world dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Our service area encompasses all of central and northern Arizona, including Apache, Coconino, Gila, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal and Yavapai counties.

With a local staff of 9 and a volunteer base of more than 1,500 community members, Komen CAN AZ is committed to fulfilling the Komen Promise: to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

While perhaps best known for our signature fundraising event – the annual Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure – our affiliate is engaged in year-round activities that include advocacy, community outreach, providing support to survivors and their families, additional fundraising events and activities, and granting funds to community organizations that help us fulfill the Komen Promise on a daily basis.  We are proud that up to 75 percent of our net income stays in our community to fund vital breast cancer services, while 25 percent supports the internationally recognized Komen Award and Research Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.

Creating a world without breast cancer is a big job, and not one that can be done alone. Komen CAN AZ thanks all of our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, donors, event participants and other community partners for helping us play such a crucial role in our community.
